Change The Magazine

Change The Magazine, a magazine that focuses on creative subjects and its changes throughout the years.

Your future is fucked. At least, that’s what we, art students, should believe if we listen to anyone else. It’s funny how our parents, friends, acquaintances or even people we don’t know, say that we have no future with our artistic aspirations. And why is that? Because people don’t seem to understand what an art-related job is. So they hide behind the most popular opinion. Luckily we, are used to discussing this subject.

Description

Over the years it’s a well-known debate if you have a future in the arts. It’s often said that photography, cinematography, graphic design, illustration (and so much more) is only good for a hobby.

While we certainly know better, let me elaborate for the people who don’t understand. Who do you think designs the magazine you’re reading right now? Who do you think directed your favourite movie? Who do you think shoots your business picture? Exactly, artistic people. Luckily people from other generations are getting their act together and accept the fact that an art-degree has value, even though you don’t necessarily need one.

More info

Art is food for thought. Every single person needs any form or type of art as relaxation.

You can see art in your everyday life. You can see it when you’re on your way to work and an ad takes your attention, if you see a commercial before watching your favorite tv series or even if you just turn on the radio. But somehow when someone you know is involved with art it’s considered a ‘hobby’ and not a real job. I find that bullshit. Just because they don’t understand the field, doesn’t mean it’s not considered a real job. We creatives have to believe in ourselves and need to keep fighting the debate, only that way, we will change people’s mind.

Description

Change The Magazine is a magazine that’s published every quarter of the year. It’s a real collectors item because the magazine is printed on a tracing paper. To top it off, the bright line is screen printed with a neon color. The magazine is 891 mm x 1050 mm and you can use it as a mural.

This edition is about typography and the change throughout the year. Next to that, David Carson, a famous American Graphic Designer, is interviewed and asked about his thoughts about typography and he gives tips for novice entrepreneurs. Every quarter edition will have a different neon graphic line at the back of the magazine. If you use each magazine as a mural they will connect with each other and become one huge mural. That’s why it’s a collectors item.
