Asking for help can be difficult. Especially as a caregiver. However, someone can quickly be helped. From shopping to drinking a cup of coffee. It is a small effort..

The majority of the current volunteers who have joined Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid are between 60 and 80 years old. However, these people are more and more forced to give up their volunteering because of health problems and/or age. Finding new volunteers is not easy, which has led to a shortage of volunteers at Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid. As a result, informal carers are put on a waiting list, because help is not immediately available to them.

Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid has asked us to develop a campaign to recruit more volunteers, so that they can relieve the caregivers for a while.

Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid informs, advises and guides informal carers. The support center also deploys skilled and committed volunteers to temporarily relieve the caregiver.

The specific assignment that Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid provided us is as follows: ‘Develop a cross-media campaign -concept, including a brand story for Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid, with the aim of enticing one of the defined target groups to volunteer at Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid.’

In our own words: developing a campaign to recruit more volunteers, so that they can relieve the caregivers for a while.

Description

The campaign ‘Een kleine moeite’ focuses specifically on the target group ‘Responsible persons’, to be precise; the over-50s. The campaign shows that the daily actions you do can already make a huge difference to a caregiver. The actions are supported by a playful illustration. In order to reach the target group as well as possible, social media advertising and a landing website are used. Here they can also register as a volunteer without obligation. So it is really only a small effort.

This project was made with the help of fellow students Ivo Heffels, Youri Beckers, Ruben Israel and Joelle Jacobs.

Description

Various means are used and combined in this campaign. The posters will be central to this campaign. The various posters are hung in places that match the relevant slogan. With these posters we want to tap into everyday actions. We want to show the target group that they could also do these small actions together with a person in need, because ‘it only takes a little effort’.

Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid distributes (postcard) cards to the informal carers known to them. These cards have the same slogans as the posters. On the back of this card the carer can tell his personal story, in which he tells that he is having a hard time and could use some help. It is the intention that the carers send these cards to their friends / acquaintances. When the friend/acquaintance
receives this card, he naturally wants to be there for his friend. The informal carers are ambassadors of the organization and they play a role in recruiting volunteers.

Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid will also promote the campaign through its social media channels, especially through Facebook. The posts are linked to the website. People (both caregivers and the target group) will recognize themselves in the posts (‘Ah, I recently received that card!’).

The website is the last step in the process and serves as an information platform. Everything is briefly explained on the homepage. The first thing they see is a video in which is briefly explained who Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid is and what they stand for.

Although the posters and cards explain what volunteering entails, it is nice to obtain more information about the organization. You will also find a registration form on the website. Here the target group can register as a volunteer without obligation. After their submission, Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid will contact them by telephone.
