Self-made typeface

How about we get to know this completely self-made typeface; Origloe, Origami meets Chloé. And let's see how it's made.

A font is the specific style of text that’s printed on a page or displayed on a computer screen. When designers talk about fonts, they mean the design, size, and boldness of letters and symbols. Many people use font and typeface interchangeably, but it’s more accurate to distinguish the terms. Times New Roman is a typeface, but a specific version of it, like Times New Roman bold 12pt, is a font — it specifies exactly how the text will look.

Description

So this project started out about pixels. We were suppose to make a typeface out of pixels. Eventually I came up to make a typeface out of origami letters.

I started with folding papers to letters and then drew the lines in Illustrator. Because it’s already done a hundred times, I decided to do something else. I started removing some of those ‘folding’ lines to check out if they really had any purpose. Obviously they had a purpose; giving the origami feeling. After that, I removed even more lines and eventually came up with this typeface. I like how ‘unfamiliar’ the lines look and that it’s not so static as a normal sans-serif font. I chose the name Origloe because Origami meets Chloé.
